Mark’s strong project management and communication skills, combined with his depth of technical knowledge make him a strong project leader .He has worked on a wide variety of technically demanding projects in both Canada and the United States. Mark takes a thoughtful approach to his projects, understanding the project vison, priorities and requirements. By understanding what is truly important, he is able to use his abilities to help achieve best value. He specializes in the analysis and design of high-rise lateral force resisting systems and recreation facilities.
Mark has worked on the structural design and peer review of a wide variety of technically demanding projects. His work includes high-rise office and residential towers, parking facilities, recreation facilities and performing arts facilities. Mark was a key contributor to the design of the Eighth Avenue Place, Columbia Icefield Skywalk (Glacier Skywalk), Studio Bell and Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge, the last three winning engineering’s highest award in Canada, an Award of Excellence from the Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards.
Mark completed his bachelor and master’s degrees at the University of Calgary. His thesis, "Seismic Resistant Pre-stressed Edge Slab-Column Connections", concentrated on supplementing code provisions for both ACI 318 and CSA 23.3 for the design procedure of edge slab-column connections in pre-stressed two-way slabs. He has co-authored two publications on this topic in the ACI Structural Journal and recently co-authored a discussion in the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering.
