Tom Tong

Tom is one of RJC Vancouver's most versatile engineers and a powerful resource within the team for his technical knowledge of building materials, including mass timber, concrete, and structural steel. A strong mentor to RJC's new engineers, Tom is valued for providing thoughtful and creative technical guidance.
Well known for his International work on projects in many countries and regions, including China, Taiwan, Singapore and the Maldives, Tom builds on a diverse range of experience to bring creative efficiencies into the structural design of all his projects. Tom's ability to manage the structural design of numerous residential, commercial and institutional projects is remarkable. Notable projects include internationally Award Winning projects such as the PassiveHouse-certified Clayton Community Centre in Surrey, BC, and the mass timber "Tree-of-Life" structure at the Babbuza Dreamfactory in Taiwan.
Prior to joining RJC, Tom's professional background includes working at a structural consulting firm in China for seven years, where he was involved in the structural design and project management of various structures. Tom completed his Bachelor of Applied Science (1995) and Master of Applied Science (1998) degrees at Tsinghua University (Beijing) before moving to British Columbia. He is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of British Columbia.
