Every two years, since inception in 2005, the City of Edmonton and the RAIC have co-hosted the Edmonton Urban Design Awards to recognize individuals, organizations, firms and projects that have contributed to urban design and the quality of life in and around the city.
During the 2017 awards ceremony, RJC Engineers who acted as building envelope consultants, took home the Award of Excellence in the category of Urban Architecture, for the Meadows Community Recreation Centre & Library. The award recognizes projects which demonstrate creativity and excellence in the area of Urban Design.

The facility provides year-round recreational and cultural opportunities for the community. With a focus on indoor and outdoor programs, the centre highlights transparency to create a space that is open and welcoming during every season. Equipped with an aquatic and fitness centre, gymnasium, programming spaces, indoor walking and jogging track, as well as an ice arena featuring two NHL sized rinks, the centre effortlessly accommodates its surrounding local and regional neighbourhoods.
