RJC Recognized for Excellence at the 2018 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards

On October 23^rd in Ottawa, consulting engineers from across Canada gathered to attend the 50^th annual Canadian Consulting Engineering (CCE) Awards Gala.

RJC Engineers were honored to take home the Award of Excellence – Buildings, for their design of Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge. Awards of Excellence are presented to ACEC member firms who have achieved the highest level of excellence in quality of engineering, innovation and societal benefit.

We greatly enjoyed working with GEC Architects and The City of Calgary – their passion for this facility is exceptional and the perseverance of their vision was a true gift to the entire project team,” said Mark Ritchie, Associate, Structural Lead at RJC Engineers.

Currently recognized as the world's largest YMCA and North America’s largest single wood roof structure, Rocky Ridge provides collaborative spaces to meet the community's needs. Every element of the facility, from its undulating lines and bold design, is a testament to structural engineering excellence, showing a high degree of creativity and innovation. Surrounded by natural wetlands, Rocky Ridge sits near Calgary’s highest natural elevation point and was purposely designed to complement the rolling hills of Alberta.
