RJC Engineers Wins International Safety Award
- Details
The International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) presented RJC Engineers with the Safety Award, Excellence Winner. The award recognizes industry safety best practices, celebrates leaders in industry, and helps promote and share best practices so others may learn and employ.
“Safety is a priority at RJC. Across the firm, our Health and Safety Committees develop, implement, and execute safety culture initiatives to improve performance and ensure compliance with regulatory, industry, and our own corporate standards. We prioritize doing everything we can to keep people safe,” says RJC’s Amanda Jenks, Health, Safety, and Environment Program Manager. “Thank you to the ICRI for recognizing and celebrating our efforts, we’re honoured to be able to share our best practices with others.”
RJC’s Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) program drives RJC toward proactively incorporating safety standards into everything with the ultimate goal of achieving zero work-related injuries and/or illnesses; preventing damage to property and the environment; and maintaining an overall environmentally friendly and sustainable workplace. RJC’s philosophy is that each employee is entitled to a safe work environment. The firm’s HSE program includes safety training, competency assessments, and continuous improvement through inspections, audits, and assessments. RJC believes that the health and safety of employees, clients, and visitors is of paramount importance. The firm’s HSE program has played a fundamental role in strengthening an culture of HSE by incorporating processes and tools that provide and support employees with a safe work environment.
ICRI Safety Committee created the Safety Awards in 2020 to support a culture of safety in the concrete repair industry, with the belief that all incidents and injuries can be avoided. The Awards require entrants to answer questions about their specific safety programs and their overall safety philosophy. Entrants must provide information that testifies to the safety standards they present, and answer additional questions about a wide range of jobsite safety concerns.
“All too often I think of construction safety as hard hats, glasses, and fall protection: just what happens on a job site,” shares one of ICRI’s judges. “This year, in reviewing the submissions for the ICRI Safety Award, it was eye-opening for me to see how our members engages in safety as a mainline concern.”
